First Responders PTSD
It’s obvious to the lay person, that first responders, emergency services and midwives might suffer from PTSD.
They witness horrific scenes, traumatic births, death.
It is hard for anyone to absorb on a single occasion, but day in day out it takes its toll on these professionals.
But this group of people do not seek the help they need, or if they do, it is often when their stress levels have become too much to bear.
This is because for many, seeking help is a weakness, a sign that they aren’t good at their jobs, they’re supposed to be strong for their patients and their families.
Seeking help is a failure to them.
We need to end this stigma and help this group of professionals using our research and case studies to promote mental wellbeing in this area of employment to help prevent the effects of PTSD.
